Easter is a significant time of the year as we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. The plan for the Easter weekend is:
Following the success and significance of last years service, when around 40 people gathered in the evening to worship, reflect and enjoy food together, we are repeating the format again this year. Our Maundy Thursday Service will start at 7.30pm and depending upon numbers will take place in the Concourse or the Meeting Place.
If you are planning to attend the service we are asking people to sign-up by Sunday 14 April so we have an idea of numbers and any dietary requirements.
You can indicate your attendance using the sign-up sheet in the foyer or email the office and we’ll add you to the list.
On Good Friday we will gather at MBC at 10am where we will spend time in worship before distributing hot cross buns to the shops and people on the high street. Then at about 11.30am it’s over to Morden Hall Park (grass area opposite the white iron bridge) for fun and food (bring a picnic).
Our Easter weekend concludes as we join together on Easter Sunday at 10.30am to celebrate the Resurrection and, appropriately, baptisms.
This year our Easter Offering will be going to Wycliffe Bible Translators. 1.5 billion people in the world can’t access the Bible in their language, because it hasn’t been translated yet. To them, it’s like God doesn’t speak their language. We want to help change that by supporting Bible translation for a specific people group. We have chosen their Ghana project because Ghana is represented in our congregation.
There will be a special collection received on Easter Sunday. Please make any cheques payable to Morden Baptist Church, and give under gift aid to increase what we will give to Wycliffe.
